I need to uninstall, disable, turn off the Windows Defender for Windows 7 that apparently is conflicting with another anti virus program on my computer.  When I go to Settings, Options, to turn off applications I get this message "Library not registered. Error code 0x8002801d"

I need help.  Thanks

Hello, I am sorry you have had troubles uninstalling windows defender. Please follow these steps:

Launch the "Services" console by clicking the Windows "Start" menu, clicking "Run," typing "services.msc" (without quotes) in the open box and pressing "Enter."

Scroll down the "Services" console and double click "Windows Defender." A new dialog box launches. Click the "Stop" button and select "Disabled" in the "Startup type" box. Click "OK" to save the changes. Close the "Services" console.

Click the Windows "Start" menu if you want to uninstall Windows Defender. Click the "Control Panel" and double click the "Add or Remove Programs" icon. This launches the programs window. Scroll down the programs window and click "Windows Defender." Click "Remove" and confirm you want to remove the program. The uninstall removes Windows Defender. Restart your computer to complete the removal process.

Thank you.  Using your instructions in paragraphs 1 and 2 I was able to successfully disable Windows Defender.

However, when going into Control Panel, Programs, there is (and was never) any Windows Defender program to uninstall.

So, while I'm not understanding this second part, I'm hoping that by disabling my Windows Defender I will no longer experience issues by running more than one anti virus program.

Use Windows Defender Uninstaller to remove it:

Windows Defender in Windows 7 was an anti-spyware program only. It should have been disabled by your unnamed third party security program. It never should have caused any conflict.
