Error message "The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accessible. Please select another." when installing GoG Galaxy

Hey there,

a couple days ago, my second hard drive broke, which I used for games and storage only. System is on another. GoG Galaxy was on the second one.

I now have a new, clean hard drive. When installing GoG Galaxy, I get the error message stated above and on the screenshot. This occurred before even choosing a destination for it to be installed to.

GoG Galaxy is still in "Apps & Features" with a template icon. When trying to remove it, I get an error message that the deinstall file can't be found, which makes sense, since it is not there anymore.

How do I get it out of there/how can I install GoG Galaxy again?

Thanks in advance! If there are any questions, feel free to ask. :)

    Hi Philipp76,

It could be possible that there might be remnants files that might be causing the error message you encounter. This can also happen with scenarios like replacing your hard drive after reinstalling your Windows. Only on this case, it's your gaming engine that you're reinstalling. That being said, I would like to know more information about it to assist you further:

    • Have you tested if the error happens on a different user profile?
    • Have you checked if the issue is happening once clean boot is performed?
    • Is the issue still reoccurring after uninstalling the program completely from the Control Panel?
    • What is the version and build of your Windows?
      • You can have this checked by pressing the Windows button + R on your keyboard to open the Run box, then type winver and press Enter.

Please don't hesitate to keep in touch with me for me to assist you further.

    Hey ErwinJames San,

    thanks for your reply. :)

I'm using Windows 10, 64bit. Kinda wondering why I did not mention that, that's actually basic stuff for a forum like this.^^

I skipped the case with the different user profile and tried the clean boot first, which did not solve it for me.

But it worked when uninstalling/removing GoG Galaxy with the Control Panel. Earlier, I always tried it with going to Controls and then Apps and Features, which just told me that the uninstall file could not be found and didn't do anything further.

What I did not realize, is that going to Control Panel and then Program -> Programs & Features is different. When clicking on uninstall there, it just mentioned that the uninstall file could not be found and asked if it should be removed from the list, which I approved.

After that, I could reinstall GoG Galaxy like there never were any issues.

So thank you very much, have a lovely day. :)
