Failed to load Hardware Monitor Driver (Multiple problems)

Hi, I've been having some problems with my pc the last couple of days. I had a power outage and since then the computer's been acting up. I'm not even sure if it's because of the outage as I wasn't around when it happened. All I know is the computer was on when the power cut and when I later started it again I didn't have any sound whatsoever (still don't infact).

So I tried checking if the headphones where still working with a few other devices and no problem there. I also tried reinstalling the sound drivers but to no avail.

So then I tried doing a factory reset of the pc and it went well and I expected everything to be back to normal, but no. When I was trying to install the computer's drivers again from discs, I couldn't.

It went "DVDSetup: Failed to load Hardware Monitor Driver! Must be run as administrator."

Which I did but still the same.  I've also tried multiple other solutions by searching google.

For example: I tried turning off disk integrity checks and booting in safe mode. No luck.

I've also had an error message on startup and I'm unsure if that could be causing this trouble.

It says something along the lines of "C:\Windows\System32\msxml3.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

So yeah, those are my current problems (even after a factory reset).

I would love to get som help on this.

Here are some of my specs:

Processor

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz

Video Card

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

RAM

8.0 GB

Operating System

Thanks for following up. Since the issue is isolated to MSI's side, I suggest installing the drivers directly from MSI support website. It would also be best to contact MSI regarding the discs that is not working properly for further assistance.

    All the best.

Yeah, it seems to be msi's own window that's showing the message, not the Program Compability Assistant tool.

Which made me realize I've only tested msi discs so far. So I tried a few other discs that weren't by msi and they work fine. Weird.

So, I'll just have to download the appropriate drivers directly from msi's website I suspect?

Anyways, nice having some clarity on that.

Still, you don't happen to know of a fix for this msi error?

Good to know that we're seeing progress on this. Moving onto the next issue, can you tell us if it is an error message from the Program Compatibility Assistant tool? If you can, kindly post a screenshot of the error message so we can have a closer look.

We'll keep an eye out to your response.

Hi, back again with some results.

I used both the DISM and SFC scans you provided and it seems to have fixed the msxml.dll file error atleast, so thanks!

But the other problems still persist. I still get "Failed to load Hardware Monitor Driver!" when trying to run dvd's/cd's in the disc drive.

So I would much appreciate some help with these errors too!

    Hi TheNyman,

As a first troubleshooting step that I can advice, I suggest performing SFC scan and see if it helps. This will repair corrupted system files and based on the details you provided, this may be the one that is causing the issue. More information and steps can be found here. Try it out and let us know the outcome.

    All the best.
