There are dozens of videos on how to create a DVDs or Flash Drives but nary a one I have found on how to use the blasted DVD once you create it.  Could someone offer a simple explanation?  What are the parameters necessary to set up once I stuff the DVD in my drive?  Lord, even a blithering idiot can CREATE the DVD or USB Flash drive.  Step one, download  tool, step two run the tool.  Hey, I just covered the majority of all You Tube videos on the subject.  Now, I think I will go out and play Frisbee with my disc.  Seriously, could someone explain Step Three:  how to use the DVD I created.  Please!  My expertise was back in the day when I was coding in Turbo Pascal and Quick Basic and trying to see how many memory board I could daisy chain to get about forty meg on my seventy pound desk top computer which had just migrated from a green screen to gray-white.  I gave up when C went to C++

So please keep your explanation simple.

Thanks.  adsouza

If the DVD writing is complete as said by the tool, follow the steps:

Open File explorer/This PC/My Computer whatever you say.

Right click the DVD drive and select open.

    Run the file named setup.

There was no point in burning a DVD for an upgrade, you should have select upgrade this PC now to automate the process or saved the ISO to some other location like Desktop.

Once you have the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update ISO, you can double click it to mount it then start the upgrade. If you are installing from a DVD or USB thumb drive, insert or connect it, then click the on screen notification. If setup does not start automatically, click Start > File Explorer > This PC > open the drive containing the Windows 10 setup files, then double click Setup.exe.

    Click Run setup.exe

How to prepare your computer before upgrading?

Although updating to Windows 10 version 1803 is a relatively simple process, similar to a repair upgrade; users should perform some basic pre-requisites before initiating the upgrade.

If you are finding it difficult to carry out some of the steps described below, please review detailed instructions how to perform them:

If you want to perform a clean install, see steps to make it bootable:

If you do, restart setup, but this time, when you arrive at the following screen, disconnect your thumb drive then go through Custom options. When setup is ready copy files, it will prompt you to reconnect the installation source (your USB).

Select the drive then click New

NOTE: If you have multiple partitions listed, select each one (starting at the bottom), then click delete until there is only a single (one) unallocated drive displayed in the window.

Select the unallocated drive listed, click New, click Apply then OK

This will split the drive into multiple partitions, select the Primary partition then click Next.

NOTE: The System Reserved partition is where recovery files are kept for diagnostics and repairing damaged Windows 10 files; or even reinstall Windows 10.

    Hi Anthony,

You need to go into your BIOS and set that DVD as top of the boot order list, so your system boots from that DVD . . .

Depending on the make and Model of your system, generally when you start your PC, on the manufacturers logo screen it sill indicate something like 'Press F2 to enter setup' - it is generally the F2 or F10 key

On the Manufacturers logo screen, repeatedly press the appropriate key to boot your system into BIOS

Then once in BIOS, it depends on what you see as to what the next step is

If your system is older, it will have legact BIOS and all you have to do is:

On the boot tab, move your DVD drive to the top of the Boot order list, save that setting and restart your PC to begin the installation

If your system is new, you will have that is known as UEFI BIOS and you will need to make some if not all of the following changes:

Insert the Bootable Installation Media, then go into your BIOS and make the following changes:

    1. Disable Secure Boot
    2. Enable Legacy Boot
    3. If Available enable CSM
    4. If Required enable USB Boot
    5. Move the device with the bootable disc to the top of the boot order
    6. Save BIOS changes, restart your System and it should boot from the Installation Media

NOTE: during the installation process, your system will reboot, at that point, you may need to go into your BIOS and change the boot order so your system boots from your Hard Drive, otherwise the installation may start all over again - do not remove the installation media at this point - do not remove the DVD until you reach the desktop . . .
