How to move childs Xbox gamertag from parents e-mail address?

I have just purchased an Xbox for my 2 boys (aged 10 and 8).  My 10 year old son already had an Xbox live gamertag which he used on his tablet device which was associated to my e-mail address (parent)

When we set up the Xbox we purchased Xbox Live Gold against the parent e-mail account which my son's Gamertag is associated.

Now, we've realised that we can't add Child restrictions to my sons Gamertag as it's associated to an adult account.  We have changed his Gamertag on Xbox to a child, but we don't have the ability in Microsoft Account or Xbox to add restrictions around when the Xbox can be used or for how long as it is associated to my adult account.

Any advise how I can transfer his current Gamertag (with the Xbox live) to a new child account?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, there is no solution.  I spoke at length with someone at Xbox as well as on chat.  The only way was to change the email address on my account to my child's which would transfer my entire microsoft account also over to my son's email, so that is not an option.  I think they MS thinks parents create dummy ms accounts just for xbox.  I used my real MS account that I use for my email etc as my xbox parent account.  My son ended up creating a new gamertag under his own email address.  One good thing that came out of it however, was hewas able to disassociate fortnight from our xbox and then reassociate fortnight online under his email address to our xbox under his own email/gamertag, so he did not lose any history on fortnight.  I think that was his main concern.  He didn't care about the history for the other games like, NHL, NBA, NFL, etc.  MS really needs to allow parents to be able to transfer (one-time only) a gamertag to a child who is listed on their account.  Best of luck to you.

I assume your son has his fortnight account linked to his own email, like my son did.  If I remember correctly, I logged into fortnight on our computer (not xbox) using his email address, and on the fortnight website, I believe I unlinked his account to our xbox under our gamertag.  Then, we logged him into the Xbox under his own email not ours and logged back into fortnight thus associating him under his own email/gamertag.  Unfortunately I did this over a year ago so I cannot remember exactly but I'm sure if you google changing fortnight login email/gamertag, there will be instructions on the fortnight site.

    Hope this helps.

My issue was my son was using my gamer tag for everything on Xbox, so I had to create a new gamer tag for him. By doing that, he unfortunately lost his history for all online games. However from what I remember, because it was so long ago, for fortnight, I went online to the creators of fortnight (epicgames.com?), logged in and associated my sons new gamer tag with the account. The minute I changed it at the fortnight website, epic games, it kept his history intact with his new gamer tag and transferred everything.

So sorry, it was such a long time ago, that I can’t remember exactly. But I do remember going into epic games and disassociating my gamer tag, and associating his new one.
