    According to Microsoft: PUPS are:

These applications are not considered viruses, malware, or other types of threats, but might perform actions on endpoints that adversely affect their performance or use. PUA can also refer to applications that are considered to have a poor reputation.

    Typical PUA behavior includes:

    Various types of software bundling

    Ad-injection into web browsers

Driver and registry optimizers that detect issues, request payment to fix the errors, but remain on the endpoint and make no changes or optimizations (also known as "rogue antivirus" programs)

These applications can increase the risk of your network being infected with malware, cause malware infections to be harder to identify, and can waste IT resources in cleaning up the applications.

Hi Andrew. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

It depends on the PUP. You should read an study about any you let stay on the PC to know for sure what it does. I wouldn't let it on unless it's something you badly need otherwise.

I would uninstall any 3rd party antivirus and try running the built-in Defender which offers best WIndows performance with fewest issues, and is from Microsoft who knows how to protect their OS best.

Then use the best free on-demand scanners Malwarebyes from https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/ and AdwcCleaner from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcle... which are the most powerful scanners out there right now and good tools to keep on hand.

You do not need to buy a license as Malwarebytes is not an antivirus but malware protection. Only if you get serially infected with viruses would I add Malwarebytes Real Time protection.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
