Importing Mini DV Movies to Windows 10 Computer

I have a number of home movies that I filmed on a Sony Mini DV camera (DCR-TRV20).  I would like to import them all to my HP Spectre running on Windows 10.  However, Windows 10 does not recognize this device when connected by USB cable and I cannot locate any drivers online that may resolve this issue.  Would appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Marc

    Give this a try:

Download Windows Essentials and install Windows Live Movie Maker from it.

    Windows Essentials latest version 16.4.3528.0331:

    English (United Kingdom)

    English (United States)

    Plug your MiniDV

    Open Windows Live Photo Gallery

    Click “files”

Click “import from camera or scanner”

    See if that works.

If not, you will need to access a computer running Windows 7 or earlier.

Well, keep in mind, the average Mac cost $1,000 or more. Wouldn't it be better to just setup a dual boot or downgrade to Windows 7 where its guaranteed to work?

Thank you for the help.  Unfortunately Windows 10 will not recognize the Sony camera so the videos cannot be moved over.  I'm switching to a Mac for this project.

    Hi Marc,

I found this page to see if your product is compatible with Win 10 - https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/support-info.pl?...

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

Give it a look and see what they say.

Question about the camera... how are the movies saved, memory card? Or is the memory internal on the camera (I can't imagine that's the case, but I've been wrong before)

Let me know, maybe the spectre has a memory card slot that you could plug it into.
