My computer does not let me change my product key to another edition. It tells me that I have the wrong product key.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Hi UndyingLight, you will need to backup your data and clean install Windows 10 Home, Microsoft provides us with no other way to go from one Edition of Windows 10 to another . . .

You can reinstall Windows 10 at any time and it will not cost you anything !

Since you previously had Windows 10 installed and activated on that PC during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue, your PC will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers

Make sure you install the same Edition of Windows 10 (Home) you previously had installed to avoid Activation issues

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 10

If you have problems booting from a boot disc, you may have UEFI BIOS:

Insert the Bootable Installation Media, then go into your BIOS and make the following changes:

    1. Disable Secure Boot
    2. Enable Legacy Boot
    3. If Available enable CSM
    4. If Required enable USB Boot
    5. Move the device with the bootable disc to the top of the boot order
    6. Save BIOS changes, restart your System and it should boot from the Installation Media

You would have to install Windows Home, which means backing up your files and installing the right version.

You would have to do a clean install as downgrading editions is not possible:

    Hi UndyingLight,

I am Wilfredo an Independent advisor And I'm here to help you !!!

    How you doing today?

1- The first thing you will have to do is access the Windows 10 Configuration, which you can do using the keyboard shortcut: Windows + I key. Once the window has been opened, you should go to Update and Security> Activation

Once you have selected the Security option on the left side of the screen, on the right side of it you will see the activation status of your device along with an icon in the form of a key that says: Change the Product key.

2- Change Windows product key from the system configuration.

In this case we must also access the Windows 10 configuration application using the keyboard shortcut: Windows Key + I. Once the Configuration is displayed you must click on the System option.

When the next screen is displayed, you should look for and select the About option on the left side. This will make all information about the computer and operating system you are using, displayed on the right side of the screen. Scroll down until you find and select the option: Change the product key or update the Windows edition.

3- Change Windows product key from the system properties.

In this case you will have to open the Windows File Explorer. When the window is open, you should search on the left side of it for the option This Equipment. Once located you must click with the right mouse button to show the context menu in which you should select the option Properties

This will open a new window, and in the lower right part of it will show the option Change product key, next to a shield. After clicking on it, a blue window will open in which you will have to enter the new product key that we will use to activate Windows 10.

I hope this can help you
