Dell desktop stuck at the Dell logo

So last night my friend was using my computer and when he turned it off, instead of shutting it down, he just held the power button to force the machine off. Now everytime I boot it up it gets to the Dell logo screen and just stays there. No loading circles, no reboots, it just shows the Dell logo until I press the power button to turn the computer off. I can open the boot menu with F12, but when I choose Select Boot Option (I’m not sure what it’s actually called and I can’t check at the moment, it’s the very first option for me), the screen just stays black until I press the power button. I AM able to start the Diagnostics test, however the first part of the test didn’t detect any errors and now I’m waiting for it to finish the 3+ hour long crawl that is the advanced memory test. I do have one piece of information that could or could not be helpful, though: Last year, the exact same problem occured from, again, my friend doing an unnecessary force power-off. This time, though, Windows decided to fix itself the day after. This makes me think I should just wait for the problem to go away like last time, but part of me thinks that won’t happen.

In the meantime, here’s the system info the Diagnostics test is displaying on screen:

Product Name: Inspiron 20-3052

System BIOS: 3.11.0

Service Tag: DCDG772

ePSA: Build 4302.10 UEFI ROM

Any help is appreciated!

PS: I’m not exactly sure what topic to give this question, however it’s about booting up the computer so I guess Sleep and Power on/off will do.

    Hi,

You may need to boot with Windows 10 Installation Media and try a Startup Repair, or possibly boot repair commands...

After booting with the Installation media, select REPAIR on the lower... then Troubleshoot or Advanced...

You will see Startup Repair on the menu... It may actually launch an "Automatic Startup Repair" before you get that far...

Be advised that if you have a UEFI Bios machine, you need to make sure you select "UEFI Device"... not simply "Device" in the Boot Options menu of your POST screen...

Otherwise any repair attempt may fail...

    UEFI Boot Repair...

    1. Put in the Windows installation disc\flash drive and then start the computer.
    2. Press F9, F11, F12, ESC, or whatever your machine uses to access Boot Options at the Manufcturer's Logo Screen..

Select the CD\DVD Drive or Flash Drive that starts with "UEFI"... Press any key when "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD …". appears. You may see this for a Flash Drive as well...

    1. Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.
    2. Click "Repair your computer" on the lower left of the "Install" screen....
    3. Click the "Troubleshoot" or "Advanced" depending upon which appears...
    4. Select "Command Prompt". (Capital letters not necessary)
    5. Type BOOTREC /FIXMBR, and then press ENTER.
    6. Type BOOTREC /FIXBOOT, and then press ENTER.
    7. Type BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD, and then press ENTER.

NOTE... If you have multiple HDDs\SSDs, it would be best to unhook all except fro the OS drive..

    Hi,

I will provide a link to the Create Media Site... This will need to run a tool to prepare the download of the needed files and then burn them to a Flash Drive, DVD, or save as a ISO... This will download the newest build 17134 (1803) of April 2018

Since you will need to do this on a different computer, be sure to indicate that when answering some of the preparation steps...

If you have problems with this, there are a couple of reliable 3rd party sources where it can be obtained..

It keeps redirecting me to the ISO download page. Is there a way to download the actual Installation Media tool?
