Installing HP Officejet G85 all-in-one on Windows 10

I have an old HP Officejet G85. I just got a new laptop on Windows 10 and I discover HP does not provide drivers for this printer/scanner on Windows 10. I have been searching and found tools like PHPSdr or HPPiw but none detects the printer even. When I do plug the USB cable in the PC, it does not even come up with "new hardware found". It merely 'pings' a sound when I plug it in. Also when I later turn power of the printer off or on it 'pings' on the laptop.

Has anyone been successfull on installing a G85 on Windows 10 ?

Thanks for any help.

Mystifyingly this fault seems to have cleared without my action, so I assume either MSFT or HP have resolved the issue with an update since I raised it on 4th October 2018my HP LaserJet M1132 MFP mono printer scanner.

Thanks for the advise, and apologies for the late reply (was out of the country for an extended period). On the HP website, one turns in circles, but the printer is not formally supported on windows. The strange thing is my daughter has an HP laptop with Windows 10 and she prints on the printer without any special installations, just plug in the USB and it scans, prints ... I have  Dell under windows 10, and it does not even recognize the device when I plug in the USB (and there is nothing wrong with the USB port on the laptop)

    Hello,

You seem to be working with a printer model that is already discountinued by the device manufaturer. We need to ensure that the specification of your printer is still set to work with newer hardware specifications and supports the latest version of Windows. Kindly confirm with the manufacturer if there are still support options that they can offer and to confirm if your printer device is still compatible. Additionally, since only the basic software and drivers for Windows XP is available, you can try downloading and installing that and follow the guidance in this support article to Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows.

If you would like me to provide additional advice, simply respond to this thread. I will get notified and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.

The same has occurred with my HP LaserJet M1132 MFP mono printer scanner because it has now been classified as an optical disc!!! and is unable to print via USB cable direct to my 8th generation pc as it worked via before the latest Win10 update.

WIN10 more trouble than it is worth, unfit for purpose and will claim refund.

I have an old HP Officejet G85. I just got a new HP desktop with Windows 10 (64). Suddenly, I can longer do a scan of my document. What is going on ? It was working fine for few months since I bought the new desktop.

I can print but cannot do scan anymore.

Has anyone been successfull doing a scan on G85 with brand new HP PAvillion desktop ?

    Thanks for any help.
