On a Dell, usually pressing the Fn Key and right arrow will adjust your keyboard lighting
If not, boot into BIOS (F2) from the Dell logo screen and check the Keyboard backlit setting in there . . .

I just did a Windows 10 update on my laptop and now the back lighting of the keyboard is turned off. How do I turn it back on?

Did you try pressing F10 on your keyboard?
What is the exact make and model?
Open Start, type: system information
Hit Enter
Click System summary
Look in the right pane
Copy the system sku info into reply here.
