Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error In Windows 10

I am having trouble running a program from Olympus Cameras.

Running windows 10 pro ver 1803 build 17134.165

Olympus technical support advise the error involves registry errors as the program falls over with a message Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error in Windows 10.

They advise running a third party utility to clean up the registry. Of all other investigations I come to the same fix. Third party utilities such as 'reimage' or 'appuals.com' run scans that advise I have errors on my desk top registry. Then demand a subscription to fix/repair errors. DEaling with third parties scares me. I have no idea of their reputation.

Appuals is the utility recommended by Olympus but I am still worried. I have fallen victim to such third party crap before that have forced a payment to a subscription to repairs that do not fix the issue.

Is there a registry repair utility available through Microsoft? The issue only appeared following the most recent windows updates. If you cause the error why not supply the tools to repair. Even if a paid tool, at least I wish to deal with a reputable company, preferably the supplier of the operating system.

    Hi, WilliamReddick

    First you have to uninstall the version you have of Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime, you could use this tool (http://www.ursoftware.com/), then install Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime from here:

    32-bit

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=746571

    64-bit

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=746572

    Use Revouninstaller to uninstall all existing installations of the Visual C++ Redistributable:

    Then proceed to download and install all the appropriate ones you need:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/fix-visual-c-p...

    Direct download links:

    Download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 (32bit)

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/3/F/93...

    Download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 (64bit)

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/3/F/93...

    If that does not work, install the 2017 version instead:

    Download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 (32bit)

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=746571

    Download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 (64bit)

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=746572

    If that does not work, try performing a clean install of Windows 10.
