The headset and mic were working fine until a recent patch Tuesday cycle. Stopped functioning after the June 2018 patch cycle. As I read more, I see others are reporting similar issues:
Jabra Evolve 40 UC Stereo headphones microphone not working
Split from this thread.
I have the Jabra Evolve 40 UC Stereo, and I have the opposite issue, sound over headphones, but no mic. I've tried the same steps as Kathy noted, plus I tried using my Jabra Evolve Link (usb), in addition to the 3.5mm jack, to connect but still no mic.

2018-08-16T17:20:08+00:00 Headset is fully functional for listening, but the microphone channel is dead in the water. Microsoft did something recently with audio permissions to lock them down and I think that might have broken some things. Jabra hasn't been able to help. I did try https://www.faqforge.com/windows/uninstall-usb-drivers-on-windows-7/ but no change. The Jabra Evolve Link does blink briefly when I plug it in, but then goes out. it should remain lit. This is definitely a Microsoft problem because I only have this issue on my Windows 10 devices. The mic works find plugged into my iPad and Samsung Note 8.

2018-07-25T05:09:26+00:00 Hi Debra,
It seems like settings issue to me. Is this the first time that you are trying to connect your headset to your computer? Have you tried using your it to another computer? Have you checked if you there is a device set as the default recording device in sound settings? To check that, right-click the Sound icon on the taskbar (Near system clock), click on Recording devices, click Recording tab. What is the make and model of your computer? If you are using 3rd party audio manager like Realtek HD Audio, I suggest that you get in touch with your device manufacturer to get assistance on how to configure the audio manager properly. There are features like Auto Jack Sensing and Disable Front Panel that might need to be reconfigured in order for your MIC to work properly.
In the meantime, please try these troubleshooting steps:
- Install all the suggested cumulative and security updates
- Check the cable and jack for any damage.
- Try unplugging and replugging the MIC jack.
- If you are using a desktop PC, try inserting the MIC jack at the motherboard's back panel.
- Install the latest Sound card Driver. You can download it directly from the manufacturer's website.
- Try connecting it on other PC to check if the issue persists.
