Windows-10 1803 update totally crippled pc

I have small PC used as entertainment system for RV when traveling. After having been fed the 1803 update I have lost the following:

  • WiFi not even configurable
  • No Bluetooth - doesn't even show up
  • No audio - No audio device found

I believe the issue is drivers for the Broadcom chip (AP6255) which handles both WiFi and Bluetooth.

As for the audio, not sure.

PC is pretty useless for the purpose of which it was intended with this lost functionality. Rolling back to precious install is not an option

Lot of info below from System Information. please NOTE the list of "Problem Devices" below.

I've experienced another issue with this windows update and noticeably for some reason wifi is sluggish as hell and resetting your pc results in a total mess! I can't even save torrents to d drive and there's two mini blue arrows hovering above every f***in icons!! Seriously microsoft you greedy little ****!!! you messed up big time!! Moving to linux soon...you've lost another loyal customer.

For the record, I'm Linux Mint since 2009, but I help others with M$ so am stuck having to deal with their awful system.

Here's the first thing I do when such as what you describe happens:

    1. update device in device manager, selecting "let me choose", and simply pointing it to the folder location for the driver it already has. Occasionally, it loads it again and works-- no idea why.
    2. uninstall the device and tick to uninstall it's software. At least then, you KNOW it'll have to go out and actually look for a driver. It might not find one, but it wasn't working anyway, so nothing lost.
    3. last case scenario is a driver-finder such as Snappy Driver Installer. Amazingly, it's found and installed drivers I knew were correct but which would NOT install manually by me?

You'd love Mint, btw. They're up to v19 right now. It's pretty slick.  ;)

Hey geekomatic, thanks for the heads up! Yea but that's a lotta hassle. But in regards to linux, are most web browsers, video players etc compatible with linux?

There seems to be some early adopter issues at this time with Windows 10 1803, if you can, I recommend you downgrade to your previous version until the Spring Creators Update matures with future cumulative updates.

WTF?  "Some"? With 1803?  Are you high? Have a Google-- it's BEEN HAPPENING WITH EVERY FRIGGING UPDATE!

What part of, "PC is pretty useless for the purpose of which it was intended with this lost functionality. Rolling back to precious install is not an option" is so difficult to grasp?

Microsoft need to get with the makers, (Broadcom, Intel, etc) and FIX THE PROBLEM. I'm so sick of apologists for a company that insists on being a monopoly, rakes in billions, and then refuses to own up to their own BREAKING of people's computers with their stupid updates--- that we NOW can't even shut OFF!

Good christ-- fix the problems that YOU caused or pay for us to have technicians fix it and we'll send YOU the invoice.

There needs to be a class-action lawsuit over this-- it's gone on for years and it's bullsh*t.

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Recovery > under Go back to my previous version of Windows 10, click Get started.

    or

Press Control + Alt + Delete

    Click Sign out

At the Sign In screen, hold down the shift key on your keyboard while clicking the Power button on the screen

Continue to hold down the shift key while clicking Restart

Continue to hold down the shift key until the Advanced Recovery Options menu appears

    Click Troubleshoot

    Click Advanced options

Click Go back to the previous version of Windows

Windows Update might attempt to upgrade to Windows 10 1803 again. See instructions how to block it:
