Crashing during the scanning and repairing

Went to turn on my pc this evening after it working fine yesterday, it went to this scanning and repairing thing, gets to 14% then crashes on me. I can't get past this loop.

Windows for home | Windows 10 | Sleep and Power on, off

    You'd need to borrow another PC to create the bootable disk diagnostics and Windows 10 media.

    The problem with not diagnosing the disk is that if it's failing it needs to be replaced to do the Clean Install. Trying to repair Windows on a failing disk is wasted time.

    We help consumers replace the disk and reinstall here every day so it's not unusual, risky or anything scary if required. But there's a way to know and that is by running Dell or HP built-in diagnostics or the Seatools bootable USB scan I linked to find out for sure the disk's physical condition. All the scan it's running now is doing is trying to fix the file system. When it won't complete or crashes it almost always means the disk is failing so confirming that is the next step.

    If the disk is good then you can try interrupting the scan loop to repair Windows using one of the methods I gave in the second section for how to repair once the disk is known to be good.

    What does it say it's scanning? Disk or System files?

    Did you want to try to fix it yourself? If so I gave you everything possible to do which will result in either it getting started or reinstalled with a much better install that will not have problems like this one. I also said I would help as much as needed to do this.

    If you don't want to even try then do you have a friend who can help you to perform the steps I've given?

    If not you'll need to take it to a shop which charges a minimum $150 although the reinstall they would do wouldn't be even a fraction as good as the one in the link I gave which is so good it cannot be bought at any price.

    I don't know how to do or even I understand any of that.

    I get the acer logo then it goes right to scanning then crashes. There's no options for anything else. It was working fine last night and this morning. Now its not.

    Hi Rose. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

    Is it scanning the disk? This can mean the disk is failing if it won't complete. You can test the hard drive using diagnostics to be sure. If it won't start into Windows use bootable diagnostics long test from Seatools created here: http://blog.nowherelan.com/2013/04/04/boot-seat...

    If the hard drive is failing I'd replace it with an SSD which is the best upgrade you can give your PC - lightning fast, better than a new higher end PC without one.

    If the hard drive is good then I will give you steps to access the Repair Mode to try all repairs to get Windows started, and if not to do the automated Reset or the superior Clean Install after rescuing your files. These steps don't cover possible hardware failure which might become apparent while performing the steps, so please report back as you go:

    1. Use whichever method works in this link to access Advanced Startup Options: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc.... Easiest may be to restart PC three times to trigger the Startup Options.
    2. If none of the other methods work it may be necessary to Create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m...

    Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

    Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, then on second screen choose Repair Your Computer. If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

    1. In the Advanced Troubleshooting options try to System Restore to a point before the problems began, Startup Repair, then if necessary from Startup Settings try to get into Safe Mode with Networking, or lastly Safe Mode.

    If Startup Settings aren't available you can force Safe Mode from Command Prompt following Step 5 here: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-saf..., or using the command to unhide F8 Advanced Boot Options here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/22455-enabl... where you can also try the old reliable Last Known Good Configuration.

    1.     Update your drivers from the PC's Support Downloads web page. Compare the latest drivers with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

    1. If Safe Mode doesn’t work or help stabilize things then return to Advanced Troubleshoot options. Next try Command Prompt to run through Windows 10 Install Integrity Checklist (above link) repair commands including sfc /scannow, DISM, a full Disk Check, or return to Troubleshoot options to Reset Your Windows 10 PC.
    2. Better yet do the vastly superior Clean Install Windows 10 following the steps in this link to delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...
