It's much easier to perform an upgrade using a USB Flash Drive. To create one, make sure a USB flash drive of at least 8GB is inserted on your computer before running the media creation tool. Select Create an installation media, then hit Next. Select your language, architecture, and edition on the next page, and hit Next, then select USB Flash Drive. This option will save a bootable copy of Windows 10 installer file on your USB flash drive that can be used on the spot without the need of internet connection and on any compatible devices.
Once done, you can now perform an upgrade from the USB flash drive.
Before starting the upgrade, make sure to disconnect all peripherals other than your mouse, keyboard and LAN cable and to disable (preferrably uninstall) any third-party antivirus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade (this might be the cause why it got stuck during your first attempt to upgrade).
An advanced install will allow you to manage your drive partition before the installation. However, it is not recommended if you want to keep your applications, files, and settings.
