Hi Vincent. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You can plug in the camera via USB cable, see if anything pops up asking what you want to do with it, choose Import Pictures.

If nothing pops up, go to Settings > Devices > Autoplay to look for the camera to choose from the dropdown menu to always import pictures to Windows.

You can also check for the camera in Bluetooth and other Devices.

If camera doesn't show up see these extra steps from Canon: http://canoncanada.custhelp.com/app/answers/det...

There is also a program that can import pictures from Canon cameras here: https://www.wikihow.com/Load-Pictures-from-a-Ca...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi Vincent,

When all else fails, the manual approach is your best option to transfer the files, the built in Photos App can be a bit unreliable, and you will have more control over the files are transferred . . .

Open Windows Fie Explorer (folder icon on your Taskbar)

On the left click 'This PC'

On the right double click your camera or the DCIM folder (whichever shows up)

Then simple select the files you want to transfer and drag them into the Pictures folder in the left pane of File Explorer

    That's it!

You have to go to Cannon website and download and install the driver/software package for it.

    restart PC.

Now after you have done this, it should be located in "This PC" or "Devices and Printers"

Now, many cameras have different file formats and file extensions. You might have to also download and install the Microsoft Camera codec pack located here.

    Microsoft Camera Codec Pack (6.3.9721.0)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26829

Give me the exact camera model and I can get you the link to download the drivers/software. If you have a CD with the software and drivers use that. But if it is not for windows 10 or if their web page does not offer Windows 10 drivers, then you need to uninstall any previous installed software, restart PC and install using compatibility mode for what the package is for such as Windows 7 or 8 etc.

Here is how to install using compatibility mode. Works 99.9% of the time for all software and hardware.
