Double check the battery connections, sometimes if dead batteries are left too long installed they’ll leak, this will affect connection.
Try wiping the battery terminals with a soft cloth.

Hello everyone,
I have the sculpt keyboard. This morning it stopped working and there was a red light indicating the batteries were dead. I replaced the batteries but the keyboard will not work again. The keypad and mouse are fine, just the keyboard won't connect/work. I have tried 8+ different battery combinations, all with brand new batteries.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Hello. I tried downloading the latest driver but all that did was download mouse & keyboard centre and told me what buttons are there..
I also did not see in your last link any reference to stuck keys.
Assuming none of this works and it died, do they have any sort of warranty/guarantee on this? it's a relatively new keyboard.
Some suggestions:
Open up device manager - use run devmgmt.msc
Locate the malfunctioning device(s) - probably under "Other devices"
Right click and "Uninstall" - do not "Scan for hardware changes"
Download latest driver - http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/sculp...
Check the manual & download for the mouse & keyboard centre here:

Check for stuck keys.
Hi Virginia,
Thank you for the response and suggestion. I did remove/reconnect the dongle but that did not help. As for turning the keyboard back on, I do not actually see a button anywhere to do so. Am i missing that somewhere?
Did you turn off the keyboard & turn it on again to reconnect the keyboard to the PC?
If the dead batteries were left in for too long it may have reset the keyboard so may also reconnecting to the USB dongle again too.
