Dictation message appears when hitting Command-H while in Remote Desktop from Mac to Windows 10

I have been using Microsoft Remote Desktop (version 8) to connect to my Windows 10 work PC from my Macbook Pro. I always have it in full screen. When I went to minimize any program, including this one, I hit Command H. This has always worked. The other day, I switched to version 10 of Remote Desktop after I was warned that 8 was going away. Now, when I hit Command H inside my remote session, I get a message that says, "To use dictation go to settings and turn on speech services." I have researched this message and tried various things to turn it off but noting has worked. I know I can hit Command-Tab to cycle to a different Mac program, but my fingers naturally go to Command-H, as I have been using that for so long.

Is there a way to turn this off? I have no plans to use dictation or the on-screen keyboard at all.

Thanks!

    Hi Alan,

The Windows key + H is a feature intended for Windows 10 to open dictation. There are no means of disabling it aside from not pressing the keys. However, let's try to disable speech recognition and see if it helps. Follow these steps:

    1. Press Windows key on your keyboard, type Speech recognition and select the search result.
    2. On the window that would appear, click Advanced speech options on the left hand pane.
    3. Under User settings, make sure that the check box for Run Speech Recognition at startup is clear.

Let me know if there are improvements.

Thanks for the update, Alan. We can disable the Windows key through the Registry. Before doing these steps, please do note that serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow the steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about to back up and restore the registry, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Follow this article on How to enable or disable the keyboard Windows key.

Update me if there are improvements.

Pretty sure that wasn't it, as I had to go through a whole setup routine for that. In the end, I made sure to not check the box for running it on  startup. This did not make a difference.
