Microsoft (R) HTML Application Host

I have this weird Amazon Assisstant thing running on my pc every time I restart it and it does not appear anywhere (not even the taskbar), except for here (which is how I close it):

It's labeled as Microsoft (R) HTML Application Host  in the task manager: processes:

and I tried to disable it through task manager: startup but it does not appear there:

According to the answers on some similar questions I tried to use the SFC and Command Prompt thing to check for corrupted files and repair them but everything seems to be fine. 

I'm also experiencing some audio problems, which I assumed were connected to this application host thing but I don't even know anymore, the sound gets distorted and slow and doesn't go back to normal unless I restart the pc.

What should I do?

    Don't you mean Windows PowerShell?   

    It would be nice if Microsoft would could simply make things simple AND NOT allow any update to one's computer which inserts itself into the startup or launch mode.  

    My issue looks like malicious code or malware.  Odd that Windows 10 asks me every time if I want this application to make changes to my system except for this.  

    Make it simple folks... one place to see what is being launched at startup!  I would add a log.

    Hi Lana,

    We would like to isolate this issue that you're having right now with the said application. What is the current build and version of your OS? You can check it by pressing the Windows key + R and type winver.

    Since you already perform SFC, you can try to check DISM.

    Please follow the steps below to run the DISM tool:   

    1. Press Windows key + X and select the Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, enter the following commands (Press the Enter key after each command):

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth   

    1. To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and press Enter.
    2. Restart the machine.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you for your response. Please try to check the Startup Tab under your Task Manager and see if you can disable that application upon starting up your device.

    Hello,

    Thanks for replying to my question :) The verson and build of my OS is Version 1709 (OS build 16299.192).

    I followed the steps you outlined, checked DISM and everything seemed to be fine. I then restarted the pc, but the Microsoft (R) HTML Application Host is still running.

    Is there anything else I can do?

    Just to chime in, I also have this issue; and it is not in my startup files. It is however is my processes and needs to be closed via my task

    manager about once a week. So i cant even disable it :(
