Bypass Windows Error Recovery Screen

My Windows 7 run laptop went black due to low battery. I unfortunately made the mistake of pressing the power off button instead of letting it shut down by itself. I then got a Windows Error Recovery startup screen at start up with only two options. Run repair and Start Windows normally. It doesn't work to start it normally as it only goes to recovery again. There's no option of Safe Mode. I don't have all my files backuped and want to avoid reinnstalling Windows.

Any advice? I need to have it working asap due to work so I hope it can be solved.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

Do a System Restore in Safe Mode.

"How to Do a System Restore in Windows 7":

    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

"Advanced startup options (including safe mode)"

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7

"The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts (Tap F8 at the rate of about once per second)"

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

If that does not fix it, follow this method:

Often a Start-up Repair, etc. disk will work where the built-in Repair Software won't

Make your own System Repair Disk from the information in this Tutorial:

"How to Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc"

    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

"This will show you how to create a Windows 7 system repair disc to be able to use to boot to **system recovery options** to help recover your Windows 7 installation if you don't have a Windows installation disc, can't find your Windows installation disc, or can't access the recovery options provided by your computer manufacturer.

A system repair disc is not able to install Windows 7.

       Note

If you are unable to boot your Windows 7 to create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc, then you could create it on another computer to use on your computer."

Then use that Disk for the System Recovery Options:

    "System Recovery Options"

"How to Run a Startup Repair in Windows 7"

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

But if you do not have access to another Windows 7 machine with the same "bit" version use this method to make a disk, from which you can also use the Startup repair options:

You can use this for preinstalled OEM or Retail Licenses

Download the correct ISO file and make your own disk and use the Product Key that is on the COA Sticker.

    https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/67-microsoft-windows-and-office-iso-download-tool

    Download: Windows ISO Downloader.exe

    Version: 6.00

    Release Date: 11 April 2018

Requirements: Windows 7 or newer, .NET Framework 4.x, Internet Explorer 8 or newer.

Important: As of Version 6.00, we're adding back an experimental feature to generate links for Windows 7 and Office 2010. Generation of new links for these products is throttled, and not every download is always available in every language. New links are generated on a first come first served basis, with users who enable the idle resource donation getting preferential treatment. And here are instructions on how to burn ISO images to disk:

You change the Boot Order in the BIOS to be able to boot from your installation media:

If you need any further advice, just post back to this thread.

Why I suggest a local Tech who others can recommend is because you never know the quality of the work done in the large multi-store chains before they work on your machine.

    Cheers.

Ok I see. I guess I just have to try yes.

I'll see if I can ask someone to burn the disk for me first and if not I'll need to visit a store.

Thanks for the advice and help. It's probably a good idea yes to be a bit discerning regarding which shop I use so they don't make matters worse:)

Hope I can solve the issue soon.

    Kind regards.

As I advised: Often a Start-up Repair, etc. disk will work where the built-in Repair Software won't.

    ___________________________________________

The software will give you the option, that doesn't necessarily guarantee it will work.

Whether it works or not, depends on the state of the operating system on that partition.

The only way to find out is to see if it does work and fix it.

If you use a repair disk these are the options:

If you have to get outside help:

My personal advice is to leave the big chain store alone and use a smaller and local Computer Repair Shop that your friends recommend.

That is an option for you if you feel you are out of your depth with this.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

Thank you for your swift and thorough reply.

I've tried entering the advanced boot mode but unfortunately I am not able to open Windows as of yet. I also don' have the opportunity to use a Windows restore disk currently.

When I choose the Windows repair options in the boot menu does it give me the option to use restore points so my partition is not erased?

Also could a regular electronics and computer store be able to help me fix this if I'm unable myself?

    Thanks.
