Microsoft Store doesn't think I'm online (but I am)... cannot access apps!!!

My computer is online, but the Microsoft Store thinks it is not.

I have located an App online I wish to download from the Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/

When I click "Get the App", the Microsoft Store attempts to launch. It does not launch. The screen reads:

"Check your connection. The Microsoft Store needs to be online. It looks like you're not." At the bottom, it reads: "Code: 0x80072EFD, CV: cHKrEnk3ikSTQAKe"

The screen gives two options: "Refresh" — I hit refresh, and get the same error — "Check Connection" — I check the connection, which takes me to the system settings, and it says "You're connected to the internet."

Yes, I'm definitely connected to the internet. I found the app I want to download online in my browser. I'm typing this very reply in my browser. My browsers work, my other online apps all work. My system settings know I'm online. Only the Microsoft Store does not.

I have tried updating my system (system is completely up-to-date, and re-started). I have tried Windows + R, wsreset.exe, which opens an empty black window and I get the pulsing underscore (but cannot type anything and I have no idea what the exe ran or didn't). The only option is to simply close this window.

    Hi,

    Your Windows applications are unable to connect to the Internet. To troubleshoot this, kindly follow these steps;

    1. Press Windows + R to open Run.
    2. Type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter to open Internet Options.
    3. Go to Connections>LAN settings.
    4. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN and save the changes.****
    5. If Use a proxy server for your LAN is already unchecked and the Windows apps are still unable to connect to the Internet, uncheck Automatically detect settings.
    6. Save the changes and check if your issue has been fixed.

Let us know how things go.

    Regards.

    Hello,

This error is due to network connectivity issues from the Client to the Store Services. If you receive this message along with an error code, then it indicates that a connection with the server could not be established.

Here are a few troubleshooting suggestions you could try:

Method 1: Check the System Date and TimeZone on your computer. Make sure it is correct.

Method 2: Run a system file check.

    1. Press Windows icon and R on your keyboard at the same time to open the CMD window.
    2. Type sfc/scannow and press Enter.
    3. Wait while the scan runs – it might take a while depending on how many files are stored on your hard drive.
    4. Additionally, in the same cmd window type and run the following commands (press Enter after each command line):

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Update us on how it goes with your Windows Store app.

Possible Fix for MS Store II

    Code: 0x80072F7D

    Code: 0x80131500

    Possible Fix:

Search for "Internet Options" > "Advanced" Tab

Scroll to the Bottom of the List where you can see "Use SSL/TLS"

Clear the Tick Marks in SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.1

Make Tick Marks in TLS 1.1 and 1.2

    Click "Apply"

    Reboot and Test

    YMMV and Good Luck!

Since Microsoft appears to no longer preform regression testing, some one of their FORCED updates reset your encryption protocols to INSECURE and DEPRECATED antique values. They also seem to have abandoned any semblance of version control, as their FORCED updates keep re-introducing old bugs.

    HI Philip,

Your concern about the performance of the Microsoft Store application can be due to your device's configuration and/or broken/corrupted system files related to the program. To better understand your concern, we'd like to know the following:

    • If you're using a home/personal computer or a device that is managed by a domain/organization.
    • The last changes made/activities performed on your device prior to your concern.
    • The version and build of Windows 10 that you're using on your device. To check this, you can perform the steps posted on this link.

Based on the results of the SFC scan, it indicates that there's an issue with how the command is administered. We'd recommend following the sequence of commands below to successfully find and fix corruption on your device:

    1. Type Command Prompt in the Search box, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
    2. Type the following command, and then press Enter. It may take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth 3. Once DISM is done, type the following command and press Enter. It may take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.

    sfc /scannow

Note: There is a space between .exe and /Online as well as with sfc and /scannow.

In addition, we'd recommend performing the following to clear and reset the Windows Store Cache:

    1. Press Windows + R to open run command.
    2. Type WSReset.exe, then click OK.
    3. Wait for the command to finish.
    4. Relaunch the Store app.

We look forward to your response.
