Removing items from taskbar

Does anyone know how to remove items that have been added by the user to the taskbar?  I have pinned items over time that I would like to delete.  Currently, it isn't allowing me to pin any new links.

    Hi AlienY, please try this:

Right click any of those icons and chose 'Unpin from Taskbar'

Can you not just right click the item on the taskbar and select unpin from taskbar?

I'm sorry; I realized I am calling the bar the wrong thing.  It is not the taskbar, which is at the bottom.  It is up top, under the main tool bar.  I have pinned sites there that I want to remove. I actually don't remember what that is called...maybe another toolbar.  Sorry for the foolish question.
