Hello! I'm looking for a way to disable this annoying "feature" of windows that manifest itself by switching to desktop at midnight (12:00 a.m.) while i'm playing my games. Once the clock turns 12:00 a.m. my fullscreen game is imediatly minimised and i'm switched to desktop. Any solutions?

Regards,

Stefan

Ok let me know how you make out.

Hello! I'm reporting back about the settings i've made in task scheduler. It appears that disabling consolidator(something regarding customer improvement experience improvement program), integrity check (device directory client), maps update, speech model download task ?made no impact :( It must be something else. I will try and make a reinstall of windows this weekend and observe if the "switch to desktop at midnight" reoccurs. Before posting here about my issues I have also talk to Microsoft Support through "Virtual agent" and the only suggestion they could come up with was to disable windows notifications completely and that didn't work either.

Sounds like something is 'stealing focus'. It could be Windows Updates, or a software looking for updates at that time.

Or there may be some other scheduled Task involved.

Have a look in Computer Management...

Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application & System,  and Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library

for anything that is activated at 12:00 AM.

    • If you setup your Windows Updates Active Time for the full allowance of 18Hrs within the times you are normally on the machine,

you should be able to prevent Windows Updates barging in @12:00AM. If that's what's stealing focus at midnight.

Safest way to prevent WU from doing something when you least expect it to is to run WU manually before launching your game,

so you can get any update over and done with at a time that is convenient (somewhat) to you.

    • Some Anti-Virus (Avast) have a 'Game Mode' (or similar) that helps prevent things from stealing focus when a game is running.

    .

Not sure if that is the night light.

Go to search and do a search for night.

You should see the night light to open it and then you can turn it off if it is on.

It is not turned on. In fact i didn't even know there is such a setting :) But thanks for your quick suggestion.
