Download the latest driver at the following link then install it:

    https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51...

Make sure you install the driver before connecting the printer.

Hi Mary Ann. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You'll need the full driver software package from the HP Support Downloads webpage for the full printer model here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Power up but unplug from USB the printer, download and install the printer driver, follow the prompts until it tells you to plug in the printer.

If this isn't enough I'll give you steps to clean out the old drivers which can cause problems.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
