Problem Logging On To Computer

I recently downloaded the free Windows 10 upgrade, and used it for a few minutes.  I turned the computer off, and when I turn it on and I cannot log on the computer.  When I power the computer on, it automatically takes me to HP Basic System Diagnostics page (black screen).  I perform the tests and pass the memory and language test.  When I check the hard disk, I get the error message SMART Check : NOT INSTALLED and Short DST : NOT INSTALLED. Then I click on continue setup and get this message:

BootDeive Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk

Hard Disk -- (3F0)

F2 System Diagnostics

For more information, please visit:  www.hp.com\go\techcenter\startup

My operating system (Windows 7) was working fine until I downloaded the FREE Windows 10 upgrade.

I am in desperate need of this laptop, can you please assist me.

Thank you so much

Jackie

    Hey there, MzJackee

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

Please can you answer the following:

    1. What is the name and modal of your device?
    2. Have you got the recovery disk for your device, or Windows 7 Installation media?

What you could try is starting the PC/Laptop by pressing the power button and continually press F10 until the BIOS screen appears. Then, follow these instructions to reset the start up for the device:

    1. Press F9 to load the BIOS Setup Default page,
    2. Press F10 to save these settings,
    3. Select Yes by using the arrow keys,
    4. Press enter to select yes,
    5. and follow the on screen options to restart your computer.

Please let me know how this goes,

    Regards,
