Printers Compatible With my HP laptop

I couldn't get my printer to scan. I used my older laptop and now my newer. My computer had an error message that couldn't be removed so I took it to 2 repairmen one most recently. The last one restored Windows 10. I have no idea if it's Windows 10 S.

I ran out of in very quickly and I got some new ink cartridges. They were expensive. The printer just now printed one page and then printed a half page and faded away.

I have always been happy with HP laptops and printers. I paid twice what I usually paid thinking I would get a better computer for my money. It's worse.

The printer is newer than the computer and it won't work.

I would go back to my older printer but it's wasn't scanning anymore. I think because it wouldn't work with my new computer.

I guess I have to throw away the HP printers and get some other brand.  I can't stand the frustration.

When this computer wears out, I'm getting another brand.

HP has become inferior since I stated buying them years ago.

Printers are neither compatible nor incompatibile with computers. Whether they are compatible with what you have depends on what operating system you are running, not with what computer you have.

It's very common that older models of printers do not work with newer versions of Windows . Note that I'm talking about older *models*, not with how long you've have the printer. This is because the printer manufacture does not write drivers for them to be used with the the newer Windows versions. The reason he doesn't want to write the drivers is because he wants to sell newer printers.

    Hello Sandy,

Since you are using Windows 10, I would like to know what version of Windows 10 are you using? You can get this information pressing the Windows key on your keyboard, then type winver on the Cortana search box, then press Enter on your keyboard.

Windows 10 gets updated regularly so device manufacturers need to update their drivers (in this case, printer driver) so that it will continue to work with the last Windows 10 version.

For now, I suggest that you run the printer troubleshooter to isolate the issue. To this, just go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Printer > Press the Run the troubleshooter.

After running the troubleshooter, please try to print and check if it is still the same.

If the troubleshooter did not, I suggest that you visit the printer manufacturer's website and download the latest printer driver that is compatible with the current Windows 10 version.

Let us know how it goes.

Since you already tried to reinstall the driver and software for the printer and also you mentioned that it runs out of ink too soon, I recommend that you reach out to the printer technical support group so that, they can check the status of your printer.

    Regards.

Ok. I get it. My computer was old but it did have Windows 10. It did not scan. I tried to load the drivers and software for scan but it still wouldnt scan (it did copy.) But a new printer (not made long very ago and wireless is not set up) ) "runs out of ink" way way to soon. I hardly used it. My new computer needed restoring and was down for awhile and I can't find a way to clean the heads. I got the printer after the laptop so I dont see how it can be old. My repairman reloaded the windows I already had, 10.
