Will I lose my files upon activating Windows 10?

Hey, I am currently running the Windows 10 trial edition (with the watermark in the bottom-right hand corner) and am going to activate Windows 10 once I receive my product key.  My question is will I lose all of my files I downloaded when activating Windows 10.  While it may seem obvious and a silly worry, I just want to be sure since I have over 150GB of games already installed and I would hate to download them all again.

Hi Jack, rest assured, activating Windows 10 will have absolutely no effect on your data, it will remain intact, you have nothing to worry about . . .

Hi Jack. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

There is no trial version, except for Enterprise which is a business version and can only be activated by large organizations using Volume Licensing.

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and report back what it lists at the top under Status and Edition.

If it's retail Windows then you can buy a Product Key to insert it. I would buy only from a major retailer who backs their sales. Any discounted key is likely not genuine. Safest is to buy from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US...

You won't lose anything by activating, unless you have a business version which must be reinstalled to activate as a consumer. Then back up and reinstall a consumer version.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
