Inheriting settings of an existing local account (windows 10)

I wish to make a new local account so that it can inherit settings(all settings including desktop background, start-menu pinned items, folder options etc) of another existing account. Is it possible to do in windows 10? If so, please detail the steps.

Microsoft's 'User Profiles' doesn't allow me to change the 'default profile' or copy a new one to another. The "copy to" button is disabled.

    Hi KaiPai,

You need to use an app like Win Enabler. It allows you to copy a profile to the default profile. I do it often, but the steps need to be done properly.

Download Enabler - https://windows-enabler.en.uptodown.com/windows... (green button on next page)

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

Once downloaded, move it to a location you can access it (folder on C). You’ll then log in as a different user (you don’t want to copy the profile you’re logged in as, it won’t work correctly)

So you’ll log in, let’s say as the built in admin account. Right click on win enabler, and run as admin (this is important, as I couldn’t get it to work forever until I did this). go down to your system tray, and click on the Win enabler icon. It’ll say “on”

Now, go to where the Copy button is for the profiles, and click on that button. It should “un-grey”. Highlight the profile you want to copy, and click that “Copy to” button again. You’ll choose the default profile to copy to. When you are prompted for credentials, click cancel, and then I’d change the location (I choose local machine, top of tree) For users, type “everyone” and make sure that is in that field. Then click on. It’ll prompt you and say are you sure you want to do to this.

One more step, open control panel, and file explorer options, and click the view tab. Uncheck “hide protected operating system files” - now navigate to C:\Users\AccountYouJustCopied

Copy the ntuser.pol and ntuser.dat file, and paste them in the default folder. (I don’t know why these don’t copy, but moving them manually works)

Good luck, and let me know!
