How to I shrink my C: partition of 918Gb to 200Gb with Win'10 preinstalled undisturbed ?

Hi,

I have bought a new DELL Desktop PC which has 64-bit Windows 10 Home OS preinstalled and has created a few other partitions for UEFI, Recovery, etc. totalling about 12Gb in all. So, my C: Drive with Windows has a huge 918Gb allocated, and when I try to shrink it thru Disk Management to create a new partition allocating only 200Gb to C: drive, and rest to D: where I intend storing my personal data (as I usually do), it shows the shrink size can only be 467Gb, so my C: drive will end up being over 450Gb which would be a waste of space, as I don't store personal data on a Windows partition, as a policy.

Is there a way I can workaround this, or do I need to use some (free) 3rd party s/w to do this ? Don't want to disturb my C: which has Windows installed properly.

Thanks

Ramesh

Hi RameshIyer, you will need to use a 3rd party application to do this as Windows will be unable to do this for you . . .

A really good and safe application you should use is the Free version of AOMEI Partition Wizard, it will make light work of any partitioning job . . .

    To better understand the state,

Post a Screenshot of disk management.

Open Disk Management by typing in diskmgmt.msc in Run Dialog box.

Get a Screenshot and paste back in next reply:

Yes, had taken a screen-shot of it earlier. Posting it now for ref. As I mentioned earlier, seems I can't shrink my C: partition to less than 467Gb as the shrink screen shows. Would appreciate if someone can clarify, if I got it right.

Hence, asked if there's some 3rd party s/w which can do what I want - allocate just 200Gb to C: and rest to D: for my own data.
