Hard drive doesn't require special drivers.
Just plug in the USB and power adapter (if applicable) and subsequently the drive would show in File explorer.

If you wish to add external storage you have several options.
The most common options are
External USB Hard Disk - as I'm sure you've seen, you can get small HDD's that connect straight over USB and can be removed and re-added at will.
NAS - Network Attached Storage is a little bit more complicated, but essentially is a giant hard drive you can connect to your network. You can then connect to that storage from your PC via the local network.
If you decide to go the NAS route, I'm sure instructions will be included with the device.
