usb tethering windows 10

i used to be able to tether my iphone to my laptop, now i cannot. i have trawled the internet for solutions but it has become apparent that for some reason my windows 10 not only does not have an option to enable usb tethering i dont have the 'NDIS based Internet Sharing Device' network adapter. how can i resolve this problem, troubbleshooting doesnt lead me anywhere and neither does updating.

    This maybe an issue with a system file being corrupt.

    You can try a couple things.

    Right click your start button and select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

    In Command prompt type sfc /scannow and press enter.

    Restart the computer.

    If that doesn't work then try this,

    Right click your start button and select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

    In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands.

    Press Enter key after each command:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    Important: When you run this command, DISM uses Windows Update to provide the files that are required to fix corruptions.

    To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and then press Enter.

    Restart your computer.

    Try following one by one. Skip a step which you have already tried.

    A. Run Internet Connections / Network / Hardware & Devices Troubleshooters

    Windows Key+I > Update & Security > Troubleshoot >

    1. Click Internet Connections > Run the Troubleshooter
    2. Click Network adapters > Run the Troubleshooter
    3. Click Hardware & Devices > Run the Troubleshooter

    B. Run Built-in & Guided Walk through Windows Update troubleshooter

    Built-in : Windows Key+X > Click Settings > Click Update & security > Click Troubleshoot > Click Windows Update > Click Run the Troubleshooter
