Anvi folder locker's security

I had downloaded an application named ANVI FOLDER LOCKER (www.anvisoft.com/folder-locker.html ) to lock and hide my files and folders.

But later I got to know that the creator of this application was a Chinese hacker.

Now I'm worried about my personal data and files.

Did they get all my data?

NB: I scanned (custom only that application) that application with Malwarebytes but it did not detect anything.

I also scanned with WINDOWS DEFENDER and MACAFEE but both them detected nothing.

    Hi Mizrana,

I understand your where you're coming from. Your privacy is our top priority here in Microsoft as we don't want to share your personal information to anyone. Personally, I don't want to do anything illegal such as engaging in any activity that exploits, harms, send spam, or threatens to harm children which I bet we have the same perception.

Just to answer your question, Anvisoft collects some personal data from you while using their products or services. Anvisot is such a reputable company that provides not only protection from files or data but also provides all-in-one system optimization tool like "Cloud System Booster PRO" and antivirus software. You must read the Privacy and terms & Condition of the company to enlighten your mind about the usage of their services. You may refer to their website, here's the ***link***. The things I've mentioned can be found at the bottom part of the link.

Now, if you have tried running Windows Defender and McAfee and it did not detect anything unusual, then there should be nothing to be worried about. If you're still uncomfortable of using the product, the good thing about Microsoft is we do have a similar products that protects your files and data. See the articles below.

Both application are absolutely free of charge.

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to let us know.

    Hi Mizrana,

After doing some digging, it looks like Anvisoft is reputable company trying to earn your business, as opposed to fly by night app trying to hijack your data. Here is a write up PCmag.com did on their products: https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2429314,0...

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

That being said, none of us can be 100% on these things, so this is only my opinion. If you are concerned, I would make a copy of your data you need onto an external disk (USB or external hard drive) and then remove the application from you PC. (You could even go as far as doing a system restore to before you installed this application if you wanted)

Once done, you can move the data back, and run scans against it again. My gut says you’re ok, but you can absolutely take extra steps to ensure that.

    Hope this helps!
