Yes you’re right, home edition doesn’t have group policy editor.

You can try these two potential fixes below to try to get rid of the PW.

I have a couple of things. First, click start and type “netplwiz” and open it. Make sure that user account is checked off, and you should see a box “require username and password....” make sure that is unchecked. Click ok, and reboot. See if that works.

If not, let’s keep moving forward. Click start and type “this pc” - right click on it and manage. Expand Users and Groups, then click on users. Find that user account in the window to the right, right click on it and set password. You’ll have to enter the current password (I believe) but leave the new one blank.

    Let me know!

If you have Windows 10 Home, Group policy editor is not available for you.

You would have to add Regsitry keys to enforce policies.

    Hi Arkadiy,

What version of Win 10 are you running?

If you can access it, click start, and type “gpedit.msc” and then hit enter. It should open.

    Let me know!

    Thanks for your reply Charlie,

I have Windows 10 Home edition. I'm trying to get rid of a password during computer start up. Windows started asking me to create a password after an update in late August. So, I had to create a password and now I have to enter it during a computer start up. I still have "Never" in the computer settings "Sign-in Options".

Despite this I'm asked the enter a password when a computer is started. I read that I can unselect password protection in Local Group Policy Editor. But there is no way to access this in my computer.

gpedit.msc does not work in Windows 10 Home edition.

    Thanks,

    Arkadiy
