My computer is running slow. Are Cleanup programs safe? Does removing broken registry keys, junk files and so forth help?

Let’s run through a list of clean up actions we take, and see if we Can get your PC running better.

Have you deleted items from both your Windows Temp Directory and your App Data directory?

    C:\Windows\Temp - ctrl + a and delete the contents.

C:\Users\YOURACCOUNT\App Data\Local\Temp (If AppData doesn’t display, go into control panel, file explorer options, and make sure show hidden files / folders is checked off”

After this, Download and install [Mod Removed]

Right click on the taskbar, and open Task Manager - click more details, then click the startup tab. Let’s make sure any apps you don’t need are disabled on start up. When done, reboot.

See if your PC is running faster.

    Let me know!

    Try resetting the BIOS:

If you have any non-essential devices attached to the computer, disconnect them.

I recommend you update the most critical ones: BIOS, Chipset, Display Driver, Network adapters.

    Hello KimHolder,

Most of cleanup apps are scam be careful

There can be different reasons for that slowness.

suddenly running slower, a runaway process might be using 99% of your CPU resources. An application might be using a large amount of memory. An application might be using the disk a lot, causing other applications to slow down when they need to load data from the disk.

You can try these to star clean your pc up:

    1. Disable Startup Programs

Right-click the taskbar and select “Task Manager” or press Ctrl+Shift+Escape to launch it. Click over to the Startup tab and disable startup applications you don’t need. Windows will helpfully tell you which applications slow down your startup process the most.

    2.Scan for Malware and Adware

There’s also a chance your computer is slow because malicious software is slowing it down and running in the background.

    1. Run the Disk Cleanup tool included with Windows. It’s focused on freeing up space on your hard drive, but it will also delete old temporary files and other useless things. Just tap the Windows key, type Disk Cleanup, and press Enter to launch it. You can even schedule a Disk Cleanup to clean your computer automatically.
    2. Clear your browser history or — even better — set your browser to automatically clear its history when you close it if you don’t want to store a history.
    3. Run the Disk Defragmenter included with Windows. This isn’t necessary if you use a solid-state drive.

Hope it helps, have a good day
