Cannot reinstall drivers for the Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I recently uninstalled my Intel driver as I believed it was causing some problem, thinking that I simply had to reinstall it after. However, I am having great difficulty in reinstalling said driver. I have downloaded the proper Intel driver from the Intel website and ran the setup wizard from that program, as well as run the troubleshoot program on Windows, however the wizard changes nothing even after restart and the troubleshooter fails to come up with any identifiable problems. When I try to click on the Video Controller itself in device manager and choose either option it runs into a problem.

    GrahamSandwich,

The first link did the job perfectly, thank you.

At this point, I'd recommend using System Restore to go back to the point before you uninstalled the driver,.

Read more here (under Restore from a system restore point): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/...

    GrahamSandwich,

It all checks out, Intel HD Graphics 530... I'm not sure why your video controller is giving you a hard time. You tried to install Intel drivers and it doesn't work, I don't really get it.

Try an older version like this one here, you may have better luck: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Driv...

Doesn't work? On the same page, go to Other Versions, and try to install those too. Keep me posted.

    GrahamSandwich,

Ahh, okay. Double-click that Video Controller to go into the applet, and go into the Details tab. Under the Property dropdown menu, select "Hardware Ids", then copy and paste them here from that list.

    Keep me posted.

    GrahamSandwich,

Have you uninstalled the driver in Device Manager before you installed it?

Also, can you provide a screenshot of the status that you see in Device Manager?

    Thanks for your patience.

Sadly, the drivers offered on the dell website led me back to the same Setup wizard that I downloaded from the Intel website, I followed the on-screen instructions and restarted my computer but it failed to actually install/change anything in my device manager, the state of the drives is the same as before.
