Make a telephone call with Surface pro 4 with SIM

Is there a native app to make a telephone call directly in my Surface pro 4? I cannot find any. Only 4G is supported? I think win10 customers should be able to do this with this tablet!

Hi Dave, thank you for your quick reply!!

I'm well aware of VOIP solutions and Skype plan offers, but i have this cell phone plan which allows me to call for no cost, and navigate 4G until XX GB. I just wanted to use my SIM card directly into the surface and make calls (directly from my surface)... like with windows mobile... using my personal cell phone number.

Simple as it seems, I suppose microsoft didn't think of it.

By the way it's such a simple operation that is supported even in iPads from Apple, so I was sure Microsoft would have put that possibility on a premium device such as the Surface Pro...

By the way I won't use internet connection to make calls, since calls are in my plan and it would be really dumb to waste GB. Probably the only way is to keep the SIM in my phone ad use it as hotspot if I ever need internet in my Surface.

At least until Microsoft make a dedicated app to call your contacts :-)

Ergh... that thread seems to apply only on "windows mobile" which is another OS (not "windows 10").

I cannot indeed find that app "Phone" in microsoft store... nor in the pre-installed app! What a shame...

    Hi NereoC

After some reading, it seems Windows 10 has a Phone app, that is supposed to be able to do that . . .

I don't have a SIM card slot or 4G LTE on my workstation, so I could not find that app

If your Surface has a SIM slot, insert hat SIM card, then click your Start Button, type Phone, do you get the Phone app in the resulting list?

    Hi NereoC

Skype certainly has that functionality and would probably be your best option !

Apart from Video calls, Skype also supports phone (audio) calls to landlines and Mobile phones

    https://www.skype.com/en/get-skype/

There is also a couple of apps on the Microsoft Store that can allow you to make a Phone call from your PC, like the one at this Link:
