Screen Mirroring from Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 2-in-1 Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 1080p to a Sony XBR55-X900E Smart TV

Hi:

I have been unsuccessful in PC Projection (extended) of my wife's recently acquired Dell Inspiron  (15 5000 Series 2-in-1 Touchscreen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 1080p Laptop running Win 10 X64 home version) to my Sony Bravia XBR55-X900E Smart TV.

The laptop came with Windows 10 installed and the PC and TV have the latest firmware, latest OS updates and drivers.

When I attempt the display projection from windows to the TV, the TV's Name is a selection option in Windows and the TV recognizes that the Laptop is attempting to connect but eventually it fails on both sides.

Both devices support Miracast.

I have run DxDiag on the Laptop and it confirms Miracast support.

Sony Tech Support confirms Miracast on the TV

I have spent several hours with Sony Tech Support (level 1 and level 2) which have told me that this is an issue with Windows 10.

I have looked through your Windows FAQs on the Support site and have uploaded the latest drivers from Dell for the Intel Graphics Adapter.

I can easily do screen mirroring from my Samsung Galaxy S8 Phone to the TV in about 5 seconds.

I should be able to do this from the laptop.

I would most appreciated help in resolving what should be a simple process.

Please help.

Regards,

Dennis

    Hi:

Unfortunately I have not come across a solution though I am not giving up.

At this time, as I understand it, Windows 10 no longer natively supports the Intel WiDi protocols as Intel has stopped developing for it.

My wife's processor is a 8th Gen CPU which is not on the compatibility list.

I do believe there are 3rd Party Apps that might do this but have not had the opportunity to explore them further.

You might want to try that avenue.

I will be getting back to that project soon and will update my results.

    Please consider doing the same.

    Good luck.
