rotation lock grayed out on Lenovo Yoga laptops solved

Hi i wanted to share my discovery of why all Windows 10 lenovo Yoga touchscreen laptops have the rotation lock grayed out sometimes and cannot reactivate;

if your rotation lock button in action center is grayed out like this

Go to Task Manager (press ctrl + alt + delete), and click on the services tab, and look for ymc process (ymc.exe = Yoga Mode Control, which is the culprit, and it happens when you rotate your screen to portrait mode)

Right click on ymc, and stop the process. Leave it that way. Your Rotation Lock will remain unlocked now. It was a mid-late 2018 update from Lenovo which made this ymc cause the grayed out screen rotation lock. The computer works fine without this process, and in fact, it is precisely this process, intended to sense when to change to tablet mode and back to laptop mode when folding the screen, which causes the issue. There will be no adverse effects from deactivating this process. If you deletre it, Lenovo will put it in your next update and it will reappear, so best to just 'stop' the process.

    To help us to help you and to properly get answers to your post you should include some minimum information.

    1.  Device type. ie Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Surface, Phone

    2.  Who made it and model, HDD size. If home built what type motherboard, Intel, AMD

    3.  OS type, Home, Pro, Enterprise, etc

    4.  Current build.  Hit the WIN key, type winver, hit Enter.

    What makes you think i seek answers? Its not a question... its a helpful tip for Lenovo Yoga 2 in One, and other lenovo Touchscreen laptop Users, and does not require me to state my type of device as the title of the post already says 'lenovo yoga'.  I dont have a question, rather, i am posting a solution to a widespread problem with Windows 10 Lenovo Touchscreens, to help others.. so why do you need to know which build i have? its a universal problem on all Lenovo Yoga Models and many other Lenovo Touchscreen Windows 10 devices.
