Windows 10 doesn't recognize my 10 years old on-board graphics chip

I've installed Windows 10 Home, April 2018 update   -   Version: 1803 - OS Build: 17134.285

My computer configuration is:   Athlon 64 X2 5200+ (2600 MHz)   -   Asus M2A-VM   -   4 GB DDR2 667 MHz

This web page contains more details about the motherboard   -   https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2AVM/

It features an  Integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics

I tried Windows XP and Windows 7 on this system and IIRC, Windows 7 recognized the graphics chip by default, there was no need for drivers.

But Windows 10 doesn't recognize it and I got a plain "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" in the Device Manager (Adaptador de pantalla básico de Microsoft in fact, because it's a Spanish edition of Windows 10 Home). With such a driver I got no video acceleration and even worse, I have to use it at a 1280 x 1024 resolution, instead of the normal 1920 x 1080 resolution.

The motherboard manufacturer (Asus) doesn't provide a driver for this operating system

The ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics is quite a basic graphics chip, Windows 7 does recognize it, and then the Windows 10 should do it even better.

Can Microsoft help me with a driver for this graphics chip?

Thank you

ATI RADEON X1250 is not supported in Windows 10. At least, not according to Radeon.

It may be time to upgrade your hardware,

You can get you a newer cheap PCIe x1 AMD/ATI Video Card, one with Windows 10 Drivers/software and go that route.

Or buy a cheaper older one and I am pretty sure a Radeon 4000 and up series will work fine with Microsoft generic drivers or drivers they have for it from AMD/ATI.

Well Microsoft has provided almost all generic drivers for it. It is old and OEM has none.

Next, If the current driver is good and you have issues, then there might be another problem.
