after your last update I receive this error, tried to update driver but tells me I have the latest version. I disabled the driver, then enabled it, still an issue. note: pc is very slow and display is dimmer but can not adjust it.

I am not a technical guy, so I need a simple solution. I hope MS is working on this issue because all was well before the last 2 updates

    Hello,

    Please see the below options:

Option 1.Try Rolling back if you have an option:

Go to Device Manager by typing in Devmgmt.msc in Run dialog box.

Navigate to Display devices and right click ATI Radeon HD or Similar device you have. Choose Properties.

On the Driver tab, hit rollback Driver to go back to the previous version.

Option 2. Remove drivers completely and Install the the newest ones available from the OEM or the maker.

    What you need to do:

    1. Uninstall everything of Display driver using DDU

    http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dri...

    1. Reboot.
    2. Make sure your device manager shows Microsoft Basic Display adapter.
    3. Download the driver from the OEM or the maker like AMD

5.Run the Setup and you should be good to go.

Whether or not you have the latest driver is not what matters ... what matters is whether you have a driver for Windows 10.

As you can see from this web page on Intel's website, Intel doesn't support your graphics chipset on Windows 10. That means Intel hasn't tested it on Windows 10 and hasn't kept the driver up-to-date with Windows 10. For this reason, Intel really doesn't know whether that graphics chipset will work properly on Windows 10, or if it will work at all.

There's nothing that Microsoft can do about this, because only Intel can maintain its hardware and write drivers for its hardware.

When a hardware manufacturer stops supporting its hardware, that doesn't mean that the hardware immediately stops working. It will continue to work, sometimes for years, until its unsupported driver can no longer keep up with the changes to Windows. That's when it begins to fail, and the only thing you can do is replace it.

    after your last update

pc is very slow and display is dimmer but can not adjust it.

Problems after an update often mean that you have an interferer present which needs to be removed before the update can be done cleanly.  So, uninstall the update, then uninstall any possible interferers (e.g. resort to some targeted clean boot troubleshooting procedures).

As for your Intel HD symptom I would want to know what version of W10 you have.  FWIW I had problems with the MS supplied Intel HD driver before getting 1803 and had had to download and use Intel's version instead.  After 1803 I discovered that W10 had undone that change but it didn't seem to matter as much so for now I am staying with the MS supplied one.

thank you, figured it was an Intel issue, my pc still runs, so I guess I'm stuck with it the way it is. I will not be replacing the graphics card as the pc is 6 years old :)

    Hi, Al Jr!

I have had the same problem a few times. I have, therefore, installed several programs that update drivers because Microsoft will tell you one thing but another is actually true. Don't let the uninformed folk tell you that it is set in stone either. Thankfully, I have a more optimistic view on life so I can at least offer you some hope! Before you go out & buy new components /devices for your PC, try these: Avast Driver Updater, Wise Driver Care, & Driver Max... I use them in that order because Driver Max limits the amount of free fixes per day & they tend to find more. It is a good idea to go ahead & backup your drivers too; keep them on an external so they are safe & readily available.

Hope this helps & good luck!!!

    ^_^
