Brightness control not working Windows 10 / Lenovo T450s

Hi,

After the last Windows 10 update from 9th Oct 2018, my Lenovo T450s laptop is not capable anymore to adjust brightness. Hotkeys not working not the slide bar for Display Brightness. I can slide up or down but the screen does not change brightness level. I've tried all kind of solution after surfing the net, from updating video adapter drivers from intel and from lenovo as well, monitor drivers, changed FeatureTestControl registry key, but nothing works.

Please help with other ideas.

Thanks,

Stefan

Just another tidbit that might help a guru diagnose this...

I installed a Windows Store app called "Monitorium". It's supposed to change the brightness of multiple connected monitors (including a laptop's own display). It happily changes the brightness of an attached external monitor. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to even *detect* the laptop screen.

The laptop screen doesn't appear in Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers either.

HWiNFO yields this about the laptop's 1920x1080 screen (selected data):

Monitor Name:                                                                   BOE [Unknown Model: BOE0653]

    Monitor Name (Manuf):                                                      NV14N43 [DELL P/N: 6J1Y3]

    Monitor Hardware ID:                                                         Monitor\BOE0653

I didn't find any monitor driver for this, but I suspect that may be the problem.

I would suggest that you uninstall the latest KB update and hide it so that it doesn't install it automatically and wait for new update to come which will be installed automatically.

To know which update got installed

Windows Key+I to invoke Settings > Update & Security > Click View installed update history

Make note of KB and uninstall and block it.

    Uninstall

Windows Key + R > Type: appwiz.cpl > Enter > Click View installed updates > Select the required updates, right click, uninstall.

    Block

Microsoft has provided a tool Show/Hide Updates tool to block the update

Download the tool from below link

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

When you run this troubleshooter, it will search for available updates and list them

Select the update which you want to hide

Click Next and follow on-screen directions

Do let me know if you have any more question or require further help. If above didn't work, I will supply more troubleshooting steps to solve this problem.

I would recommend that you restore from a system restore point to a point when things were working fine
