Please advise a fix for keyboard backspace and delete buttons not working properly in windows 10. I have to use an arrow key and then the backspace key simultaneously for the keyboard to backspace key to work.

Please advise a fix for keyboard backspace and delete buttons not working properly in windows 10.

Using a differen keyboard (e.g. an external keyboard) would help.

Can you use Keyboard tester and press Backspace to see whether Backspace is working or not? If not working, then this is a hardware issue

    https://keyboardtester.co/keyboard-tester.html

If this not a hardware issue, please try these options one by one and check after each option.

    1. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter

Type Troubleshoot in Windows Start Search box > Click Troubleshoot > Scroll down and click Keyboard > Run the troubleshooter > Follow onscreen directions

    1. Uninstall & reinstall Keyboard Driver

Windows Key+X (Or right click on Start) > Click Device Manager > Expand Keyboards > Right click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard > Uninstall > Reboot the computer to reinstall

    Hi Michele

If your keyboard is wireless, check the battery in that keyboard

Have you tried a different keyboard to see if that keyboard is physically broken?

If that is not the issue:

    Open the Settings App

Go to Update & Security - Troubleshoot

    Run the Keyboard troubleshooter

If that does not resolve this for you

    Open Device Manager

    Expand the Keyboards section

Right click your keyboard and choose 'Uninstall'

    Then restart your PC

The keyboard operates well in safe mode. I keep receiving messages that my computer is...

Please see attached images. I have updated and run security scans but feel that the computer has some sort of virus. Seems I have had trouble with computer ever since I uninstalled Coolmuster. Please advise what you think may be the issue with keyboard in regular mode. Please advise what I can do to remove virus and what I should use to remove possible viruses. Currently using Windows Defender.

The fact that your keyboard works properly in Safe Mode but not in Normal Mode confirms my suspicion: While in Normal Mode, a program is active that interferes with normal keyboard operation. It could be a poorly written background program or some malware. Your challenge is to identify the culprit.

If this is a recent problem then I would start by opening the Control Panel / Programs and Features. Click the column header Installed on to sort the list by the installation date, then uninstal any program that got installed around the time when the problem started.

There are further steps you might have to take. They get increasingly complex.
