Hi there,
Computer says "No Audio Output Device is installed" in notifications bar.
In Device Manger it is there in the list however has an exclamation mark.
Have tried to uninstall & reboot and even tried manually reinstalling however it says that windows can't do this.
In the registry I am missing a file I saw on another thread, however it did not provide a solution.
I looked at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\currentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e96c-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
the other thread had asked for the lower or upper values - this is missing altogether??
Can someone advise how I resolve this?
I have performed a system virus scan and cannot find anything untoward?
Everything except the sound has been working fine.
This is an occasional use computer so not sure how long this has been like this for as we don't always use the sound, kids are on school hols & tried to watch some online content but no sound??

can anyone help?
Hi Melowin, Thanks for getting back to me :)
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough on the steps I have already taken, apologies.
Troubleshooter was our first port of call, didn't fix it, have run a number of times.
Went to Device Manager & uninstalled Intel SST Audio Device & it disappears from list, reboot & it just comes back in device manager list again with exclamation mark.
Uninstalled driver & tried to re-installed manually as automatic install option said latest driver was already installed - states Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required, recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged or that might be malicious software etc (code 52).
Performed virus scan - nothing comes up.
Sorry typo on Windows version - should have been Windows 8 and the version 6.3 (build 9600).
When I googled the issue, another thread came up on this site talking about the registry file being missing, but looks like the discussion then went off to PM, so no resolution was posted.
Any other suggestions?
Hi Jenni,
For help fixing audio or sound problems, try the audio troubleshooter. It might be able to fix audio problems automatically.
To run the troubleshooter, select the Start button, type Troubleshoot, and then select Troubleshootfrom the list of results. Select Playing Audio > Run the troubleshooter.
In line with this, may I ask what is the build and version of your Windows 10? To find out which version of Windows your PC is running, press Windows logo key+R, type winver, then select OK.
Furthermore, while it's likely you already have the most recent driver, if you're having trouble with a device, you can try fixing it by updating the driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.
