Pair BEATSX with WINDOWS 7.

I'm having trouble connecting my beats beatsx to my windows 7. I've paired and unpaired, set playback and recording to default for my beats a hundred times. So, they connect fine but I get about 4 errors for the device drivers. It says, "BLUETOOTH PERIPHERAL DEVICE - NO DRIVER FOUND". I've tried finding drivers on apple, beats, and microsoft, no luck. I've reset my beatsx. I don't know what else to do. By the way, I can not hear anything & the mic in recording doesn't show any noise.

I almost ordered one on amazon but I just had to keep trying everything over and over again. I felt I was missing something. Well with you telling me about the LMP, I did some digging on google. Led me to downloading the most recent bluetooth driver from "your computer manufacture". So went to dell and found the most recent driver! Thanks for your reply and help.

As is the case for most Bluetooth devices, it's difficult to find any technical specifications for BeatsX earphones.  However, given that this is a pretty new high-end product, it's probably safe to assume that these earphones use Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth LE), which is Bluetooth version 4.x

This is a problem because the built-in Bluetooth support in Windows 7 does not support Bluetooth 4.

You might want to confirm that your new earphones really work.  You can do this by pairing to a smartphone, almost all of which do support at least Bluetooth 4.x

Open Device Manager on your computer (click Start, type Device Manager in the Search box, and press Enter)

Double-click the Bluetooth category to expand it

Right-click your Bluetooth adapter (receiver, transceiver, etc.) and select Properties

    Select the "Advanced" tab

    Check the LMP version

    • LMP 0.x - Bluetooth 1.0b
    • LMP 1.x - Bluetooth 1.1
    • LMP 2.x - Bluetooth 1.2
    • LMP 3.x - Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
    • LMP 4.x - Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
    • LMP 5.x - Bluetooth 3.0 + HS
    • LMP 6.x - Bluetooth 4.0
    • LMP 7.x - Bluetooth 4.1
    • LMP 8.x - Bluetooth 4.2
    • LMP 9.x - Bluetooth 5.0

If you don't have LMP 6.x or better and the headset uses Bluetooth 4, that's your problem.

Can you pair the headset with your smartphone and hear sound through the earphones?  Most smartphones do support Bluetooth 4.

If this is, in fact, your issue, you can buy an inexpensive Bluetooth USB transceiver that will work with Windows 7.  For example: https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100158097%20600315449&IsNodeId=1&Description=bluetooth&bop=And&PageSize=96&order=RATING

If you do get a Bluetooth transceiver, disable the onboard Bluetooth in your computer.

Congratulations, and thanks for the feedback.

It's helpful to know that some computer manufacturer's are providing drivers that enable Bluetooth LE for their Windows 7 laptops.
