Audio Drivers

Since the Windows 10 October update my audio driver for RealTek High Definition Audio no longer functions correctly.  In particular when I play a game, there is NO sound.  I can play video files with sound and I can watch YouTube with sound, but there is no sound when I  play a game.  I've called my computer manufacturer ASUS and they walked me through several procedures to "reset" my drivers and correct the issue and finally  determined that there is a software glitch due to the Win 10 update that was auto downloaded to my computer.

How/When is Microsoft going to resolve this?

Yeah this is entirely frustrating.  I've followed all the advice and reinstalled drivers from NVIDIA and RealTek, attempted to restore to an earlier restore point, called product support at the manufacturer, etc.  I mean can I possibly have taken a power hit and it fried just the right elements so that I can watch and listen to YouTube but not hear the audio from computer games?  That doesn't seem very likely.

I am the point of backing up my data and restoring to factory settings.

Sorry, but how do you reinstall the 1803 build?

My creative SB X-Fi CMSS-3D effect is not working anymore! Build 1803 has been reinstalled 3 times now.

No issues on previous MS major patch updates. This is not a manufacturer's issue at all.

    Hi CawleyV,

In this update some members reported similar issue, for some of them issue was resolved by installing new released intel driver.

    If your issue still persist:

    1. reported this to your manufacture developer
    2. report this to the Microsoft developers using Feedback Hub

Now you can wait for new update OS/driver or use go back option / or reinstall 1803 build.
