Location of DLL files

I read some of the other knowledgeable comments on who 'should' access the files. My Anti-Virus system sent a notification that my files may be infected. I would like to run a scan on them. But I cannot seem to find them within system.

Thank You

When you run FULL SCAN, dlls also get scanned. Dll files are located in C:\Windows\System32.

Do run the full scan of Defender or third party antivirus if you have.

Hi Jenine, thanks for your question. I'm Graeme, a <removed> and fellow user.
Your DLL files are located in C:\Windows\System32.

When Windows Defender runs a Full Scan, it includes that directory and so all of your DLLs will be scanned.

Here are instructions for running a Full Scan:

    • Click Start
    • Type Defender and select "Windows Defender Settings
    • Click Virus & Thread Protection
    • Click Scan options
    • Select Full Scan
    • Go back a page and run a Full Scan
This will scan your DLL files for any malware infections. Please let me know if you need any further support! Thanks!

    Hi jenine

Dll's are located all over your PC, they are not just in in one location, they can be found in C:\Windows\System32, in your Program Files Folder, and many other places . . .

Did your Anti-virus mention ant DLL's in particular?

Using your preferred Anti-virus, run a full system scan and if that returns Dll's as infected, please post the name and location of those files and we can look into this further for you
