No this is not a virus.

I believe Norton is just clearing it out as it is no longer needed.

SQM stands for Service Quality Monitoring.

They are hidden in a hidden folder.

Its a list of files that collects information and used by Microsoft to help to improve their products, by monitoring the usage of the software.

sqm files are for Microsoft Live products,

You probably have ( CEIP ) Customer Experience Improvement Program turned on.

    To check.

    Go to Start Menu.

    Type in CEIP.

Select : Change Customer Experience Improvement Program Settings.

Select : No, i don`t want to participate in the Program.

    Then select : Save Changes.

Many thanks!....i did another power eraser and saw that the sqm upload was installed in 2015..so i gathered it was ok. Another point please can you explain that although i am using norton 360 as my virus protection together with a routine power eraser...these DID not prevent 3 trojans.dns infiltrating my windows 7 system!... It was only when i did a routine free malwarebytes scan that these trojans were detected...and had only been there for a day ..i immediately quarantined them with malwarebytes then deleted them. Norton 360 seems good at preventing adware etc .but not trojans!..any advice appreciated..thanks!..do you think that because 360 isnt available to buy anymore it is outdated and i should switch to norton internet security instead??
