Hi, currently I am over seas in Taiwan to visit my family. While I'm here right now I purchased a new gaming laptop (Asus ROG Strix Scar II) however, the store setup my laptop before I got there and everything was set to Chinese. In the store he did help me set things to English however, when I went home I still see some parts of the laptop still in Chinese :/. I googled how to fully change the language and followed the steps. I did all the settings however, the parts that were Chinese still remained Chinese. If someone can teach me how to completely change the language that will be great thanks!

Not sure if this will work but it did for me when my PC was using US language I changed it permanently in the UK English.

Just go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\Language . Scroll down the menu to the right until you come to "Default" which will read "0409". Change this to "0809". That's it! Now if you use the en-GB language media creation tool, lo and behold you have the option to keep personal files and apps.

If you can find this registry entry in Chinese then you can try changing it to 0409 English US or 0809 English UK.

I can’t guarantee this will work so please create a disk image before attempting, if you feel this is too much to try then please do not attempt.

When you purchase a laptop in Taiwan, you get the Taiwan version of Windows. You can install an English language pack to translate many of the interface elements into English, but it's still the Taiwan version of Windows 10.

If you want a completely English version of Windows, you'll need to buy an English version of Windows and do a clean install.

Incidentally, the Taiwan version of Windows is about more than just the language. It also conforms to the styles and customs of Taiwan. That's why it's called a 'localized' version.

It's a bummer, because you can buy technology in Taiwan that's both more advanced and less expensive than what is sold in the US or Canada.
