What to do to open a video if the codec is not supported?

I can play video on my windows media player on windows 10 but I don't know why I can hear no sound in any video. What might be the reason?

    1. Run video play troubleshooter

    Windows Key+I > Update & security > Troubleshoot > Video playback > Click and run the troubleshooter.

    1. Use VLC Media Player

    It is better to use VLC Media Player which has all the codecs required and will play all the audio and video files.
